1. Different appearance and structure
The roller drill is mainly composed of drilling tools, drill frame and frame, rotary air supply mechanism, pressurized lifting mechanism, receiving and unloading and storing drill rod mechanism, landing drill frame mechanism, car stabilizing jack, and walking mechanism.
The down-the-hole drilling rig is mainly composed of drawworks, feed beams, power heads and trolleys, chutes and swing seats, clamping and shackles, booms, hydraulic systems, operating platforms, crawler assemblies, rear platforms, engine systems, and lower frames And electrical system composition.
2. The working principle is different
The roller cone drill relies on the pressurized and rotary mechanism to pass through the drill rod to provide sufficient axial pressure and rotary torque to the roller bit, drill and rotate on the rock at the same time, and generate static pressure and impact dynamic pressure on the rock. The cone continuously squeezes, cuts and breaks the rock while rolling at the bottom of the hole. It is ejected from the nozzle of the drill bit through the inner cavity of the drill pipe, and the slag is continuously blown out of the hole from the bottom of the hole along the annular space of the drill pipe and the hole wall. Until the required hole depth is drilled.
The rock drilling principle of the down-the-hole drill is to impact the rock intermittently and continuously rotate. The difference is that the impact mechanism of the down-the-hole drilling rig-the down-the-hole hammer is installed at the front end of the drill pipe, the bottom of the down-the-hole drill, the piston directly impacts the bit, and the drill is drilled. The extension of the hole is continuously advancing to form a hole with the required hole depth.
3. Different flexibility
Cone drilling rigs are mostly geological drilling rigs, most of which are vertical drilling rigs, and there are also adjustable-angle heads, but it is difficult to drill after the angle exceeds 45 degrees.
There are two types of down-the-hole drilling rigs: wind power and electric power. The power of wind power is increased, and the depth of drilling is greater than that of electric. The drilling angle of down-the-hole drilling rigs can vary from nearly zero degrees to nearly 90 degrees.
4. Different rock drilling depth and diameter
The power of the roller cone drill is greater than that of the down-the-hole drill, and the drilling depth is also much greater. The large aperture is generally about 310~380mm in diameter. Used in large open-pit mines, it can give full play to its main advantages of high efficiency and high labor productivity, which can greatly reduce the cost of perforation.
The drilling depth of the down-the-hole drilling rig is relatively shallow, the diameter of the hole is small, and the diameter is generally about 150~200mm. It can drill oblique holes, and the blasting ore is small in size, so it is convenient to use small excavators for mining and installation.
5. Different efficiency
The perforation efficiency of the roller cone drill is high, which is 2~3 times higher than that of the down-the-hole drill; the operation rate of the drill rig is high, which is 15~45% higher than that of the down-the-hole drill. Suitable for large open-pit mines.
The down-the-hole drilling rig has low efficiency, but it can drill oblique holes, and the blasting ore is small in size, which is convenient for the use of small excavators. It is especially suitable for small and medium-sized open-pit mines.
How to choose more economical roller drill and down-the-hole drill
The choice of roller cone drill and down-the-hole drill is based on your own conditions. For example: the size of the production area, the requirements of the aperture, the investment funds and so on. You can refer to the comparison of the above picture. If you are a medium-sized open-pit mine, it is recommended that you choose a down-the-hole drilling rig, which has a small investment and high flexibility, which can meet your various needs and is more economical to use. If you are doing a large open-pit mine, it is recommended that you choose a roller drill. The roller drill has high depth, high efficiency, time saving and heavy workload.
