The importance of shank adapter
The cross-section of the shoulder-type shank adapter is hexagonal, with an inscribed circle diameter of 22mm and 25mm, and a length of 108mm and 159mm. It is manufactured using a forging process and is used in light rock drills.
The drill lug type shank adapter is used for internal rotation medium-sized guide rail rock drills. The drill rod diameters are available in 25mm and 32mm.
Spline-type shank adapters are often used in heavy-duty guide rail-type external rotary rock drills with large torque, and the drill rod diameter is more than 38mm. Commonly used mechanical processing methods.
The shank adapter has a great influence on the rock drilling speed, rock drill and drill bit life. Therefore, the shank adapter should be of appropriate length, the end face should be flat and smooth, the cross section should be perpendicular to the axis, and should match the drill sleeve of the rock drill (the gap should not be greater than 0.5mm). The hardness of the shank adapter should be appropriate. If the shank adapter is too soft, the service life will be short. If it is too hard, the piston will be easily injured. Generally, the hardness of the shank adapter should be slightly lower than the piston hardness. The quenching hardness HRC=38~45 is appropriate.
The processing process of the shank adapter of a rock drill is relatively complex. Since the shank adapter is an important component, its quality directly affects the service life of the drill rod. Therefore, when formulating the process, links and methods for eliminating defects should be proposed to ensure its quality.
