Must know! Effective maintenance of down-the-hole drill bits to extend service life
During the actual drilling process, due to the limitations of actual drilling conditions or improper operation of the drill bit, the drill bit often wears and forms a specific wear pattern. If the drill bit is not judged in advance and reground in time before the wear cycle of the drill bit comes, the drill bit is prone to a significant decline in performance or even premature scrapping. The following methods can effectively maintain the drill bit and extend its service life.
1. Avoid improper contact
Ensure that the drill bit (except for some alloy teeth) does not contact the metal surface, and prevent the bottom of the alloy teeth from touching each other.
2. Do a good job of pre-inspection
The drill bit must be inspected before any transportation link or priority authorization use scenario that may cause damage to the drill bit. In addition, for the convenience of subsequent inspection, the drill bit number and serial number should be kept in mind.
3. Grease before assembly
Before assembling the drill bit to the impactor, be sure to ensure that all the splines of the drill bit are evenly greased.
4. Tail pipe related inspections
1. Installation and height inspection
Check whether the tail pipe is installed correctly and confirm whether its exposed height meets the standard.
2. Tail pipe integrity check
Ensure that the tail pipe is not broken. Tail pipe breakage is usually caused by piston or cylinder wear leading to linear deviation, while insufficient lubrication will cause problems such as extraction difficulties and water corrosion, which will affect the normal use of the tail pipe.
