CO2 rock blasting technology and its effects

08-23-2024

CO2 rock blasting: The CO2 fracturing device uses the physical principle that liquid CO2 absorbs heat, gasifies and expands, and the pressure rises rapidly. It consists of a steel pipe filled with liquid CO2, an activator, an energy release component, an inflation component, an ignition circuit connection component, and other connection auxiliary components. The liquid CO2 is instantly vaporized by heating with an activator, releasing high-pressure gas energy to crack target materials such as rocks, coal seams, and concrete. It solves the shortcomings of the previous use of explosives for blasting and pre-cracking, such as high destructiveness, high danger, and ore body crushing, and provides a reliable guarantee for safe mining and pre-cracking in mines.

Scope of application:

1. Mining of open-pit stone factories. 2. Mining and excavation of underground coal mines, especially for mining of gas coal mines.

3. Sections and areas where the use of explosives is not allowed.

4. Desilting and clearing of blockages in cement plants and steel plants.

Comparison of advantages and disadvantages between traditional explosive blasting and CO2 rock blasting: Traditional explosive blasting: powerful, high risk factor, difficult to approve; relatively low blasting cost, but highly destructive, easy to affect surrounding buildings and residents; simple blasting process, strong crushing, resulting in reduced utilization of stone; serious noise and dust pollution, not environmentally friendly.

CO2 rock blasting: no strict approval required, easy to use; low noise, reducing the impact on surrounding residents; environmentally friendly, reducing environmental pollution; reducing risk factor, high safety; avoiding ore body crushing, improving stone utilization; the device can be reused, saving costs.

The technology of CO2 rock blasting is also developing rapidly. It is applied in blasting around some cities and blasting in some quarries. The national environmental protection requirements are becoming more and more stringent. CO2 rock blasting will have a good market in the future. However, there are no standards for CO2 rock blasting at present, and the price is not transparent. Some quotations are frighteningly high, which is not conducive to the promotion of CO2 rock blasting. Although we have seen many examples of CO2 rock blasting, there is still a long way to go for promotion and application. After all, it takes time for a new technology to be accepted and applied. Some technologies of CO2 rock blasting have also applied for patents. I hope to see more technologies and blasting effects published and applied.
